New week Post
I was lucky with the weather on Friday afternoon when I played my first golf match so far this year - and narrowly lost thanks to my opponent's lucky 40+ foot putt from off the green!!
Good weather allowed me to tend the allotment on Sunday where all six rows of potatoes are now showing good signs of growth, onions and shallots are well above ground and some of the seeds that I sowed a week or so ago are appearing. - I bet this morning's frost gave them a shock though. Frost in the 3rd week of May - what is going on!!
I also gave the lawns at home a really good cut (including the edges courtesy of Mrs DeeJay) and they are looking immaculate this year thanks to the Green Thumb treatment that I mentioned some weeks ago.
Poor old JT didn't fare so well at the Le Mans Moto GP this weekend where he left the track in a very ungainly manner. The race was fantastic though with many battles going on. Is it me or are these guys riding harder than ever this year?
I managed to find some time to ride mine this weekend and have used it for work again today. Its great to be able to get out on it again after the horrible winter. This Wednesday the bike club that I belong to have our annual Fish & Chip ride out starting at a dealer's in Folkestone and ending at our usual Fish & Chip shop on the south coast with some superb roads in between.

Late Weekend Post
It has been the start to another one of those weeks where the proverbial has hit the fan from the off so I have not had time to do my Monday morning post.
In all honesty, I probably don’t have that much to post about anyway seeing as how the weather has been absolutely s**t here all weekend.
I still need to get the remainder of my allotment dug, compost dug into it and my seed potatoes are just raring to get planted.
My lawns have been hollow tine aerated and some spring treatment spread which means that the weeds are dying, the grass is now about 6 inches long and I need to get that mown but it is so wet that the mower would simply churn it all up and undo all the good work.
I suppose the upside is that I have started to prepare the bathroom for decoration although that is the part of decorating that I hate. I have also had plenty of time, much to Mrs DeeJay’s disgust, to get in some guitar practice. Last week my tutor took me away from learning chords and strumming patterns and introduced me to some gentle lead guitar stuff with some blues licks. He even let me loose on one of his electric guitars while he played bass and I have really got a taste for it now and have been itching to go shopping for an electric guitar and amplifier – omg, Mrs DeeJay will either leave me or throw me out!
Monday was a complete change of weather (isn’t that always the way?), so I rode my new motorbike to work and managed to put on nearly 150 miles by taking the “scenic route”. It won’t be long before the 750 mile service can be done and I can stop having to run it in. It is so difficult to keep the revs below 7000. I guess watching the Moto GP on Sunday was also an unconscious motivator to ride on Monday. What a performance those guys put on and James Toseland did really well to get another 6th place. I can’t wait to see what he does next time out with the new engine.

Decision Time
I am sure that I am going to call in to the dealers on the way home tonight to sort out the paperwork for a March 1st 08 plate VFR 800 in Candy Red. Well I will have to go for a shade of red again or else I would need to replace my leathers and my winter clothing with something to match either black or silver which are the only two other colours available. Amazingly the Honda Candy Red is remarkably similar to the burgundy red of my car.
I returned to my guitar lessons last night after a two week break to concentrate on home practice.
It seems to have worked. I thought that my strumming rhythm and my speed of chord changing had improved as well as the noticeable improvement in the cleanliness of the chord sounds. Well my tutor confirmed this last night and promptly proceeded to make life difficult again with two new techniques to practice - 'add9' chord additions and 'pulling off'. No that is not what leapt into your unclean minds!

Another new week
Just had a good but very busy weekend as the weather was so nice. I spent a good deal of both days in the garden pruning fruit trees and shrubs. I hope I haven't gone too mad as things look a bit bare now, but I think they will grow back OK.
I also went out on my motorbike on Saturday for the first time this year. I waited for the temperature to rise a little and went for a 90 mile run. I just happened to call in at the Honda dealer that I bought the bike from nearly 3 years ago and was tempted to get a price for trade in against a new one. I am also going to the annual MCN Bike show at Excel in the Docklands on Thursday so I am beginning to feel that I am going to succumb to buying a new one for the March registration!! I wonder if I should really discuss this with Mrs DeeJay first - I know damn well I should , but .........
Just read Cynnie's new post about her new bifocals and very sexy they are too. It reminds me that I haven't updated you on my new Varifocals that I posted about last year. Well after the minor disorientation associated with the peripheral distortion and the seriously dangerous first descents of stairs when you feel as though you are about to fall, my final conclusion is that they are great. I now see well at all 3 distances without having to keep changing my glasses andI wish I had tried them before. It's also great to see people at a distance and actually recognise who they are!
Off to a Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings gig tonight with a couple of guys from the office - hoping for a good show and further inspiration to keep me at my guitar lessons.

I am back in the
So anyway back to
First some skyscrapers. Can you believe this is an earthquake zone! We actually had a tremor on our first day – earth tremor that is, don’t be so smutty!

A Japanese Dinner. I can only describe it as a beef Fondue, but in boiling water instead of oil.

Another night we dined on Kobe Beef at a Teppenyaki restaurant which was a load of fun.
Street Scenes. They were so colourful and immaculately clean. I literally only saw one single piece of litter the whole time I was there!
Piéce de Résistance. Well we just HAD to do it – Karaoke!! But we were well oiled before we did. Come to think of it, during as well.

Other recent news.
Californian Fires. I am so glad, in fact relieved, that they are now all but doused. Not only for all of those poor people who either lost their lives, were either made homeless or were severely threatened by the fires, but my eldest son is a firefighter in
My Baby IS BACK! I collected my beautifully repaired bike yesterday and besides the fact that there is nearly 10,000 miles on the clock it looks like new. Most of the fairing panels were replaced as well as the footpegs, gear change lever etc and it looks as though it has just come out of the showroom again. Maybe the moron who crashed into it did me a favour?
My 30 minute journey home from the garage took me at least an hour and a half – it was so good to be riding a real bike again J

Replacement Bike
I managed to persuade the insurance company to get me a temporary replacement whilst it is in the garage. It arrived on Saturday and is quite a different beast.
They have loaned me a 2007 model Honda Hornet. Now the 200cc doesn't make an awful late of difference as it is obviously a lot lighter than my VFR, but boy does the absence of a fairing and a windscreen make a difference. The first thing I noticed was that when I thought I was doing 65 ish, I was actually only doing about 50mph. I guess it is the wind rush and the high revving that persuades the brain that it is faster. The second thing I noticed is that at 85mph I have to hold on with a vice like grip as the wind is trying to push me off the back of the seat :-). Thirdly, it is so much lighter and more manoeuvrable so I am hoping it will improve my cornering skills as I am still a little tentative at leaning the VFR too far.
I can't wait to get my baby back but in the meantime this Hornet is going to be a little bit of fun

HUGE GRIN!
I had a test ride on this bike which is a 1300cc semi automatic gearbox machine.
MINDBLOWING! 1300cc is as big as a lot of cars here in the UK and no need to use a clutch. In fact that was the weirdest thing I was continually trying to grab the clutch lever and it wasn't there. The gear change itself could be done using the conventional foot lever or by using two triggers on the handlebarsI definitely came back to the dealer's after a 30 minute ride with a HUGE grin on my face.
